Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy addresses the problem of honor killings in her Oscar-nominated documentary short, “A Girl in the River: The Price of Forgiveness.” The film tells the story of Saba Qaiser who, after eloping at 19, was shot by her father in an attempted honor killing, but wound up surviving. The film has the potential to bring the issue of honor killings to light worldwide, and change practices on the issue within Pakistan.
