We are proud to announce that Critical Thinking Fellowship (CTF) fellow Natalie Bao Tram Le, of Harvard University, received an award from FIRE (the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education). FIRE’s mission is to defend and sustain the individual rights of students and faculty members at America’s colleges and universities. These rights include freedom of speech, freedom of association, due process, legal equality, religious liberty, and sanctity of conscience — the essential qualities of liberty.
Natalie won third place for the “Let Them Speak” Campaign, which “challenged students to take proactive and reactive steps to protect free speech for everyone on campus, including the speaker’s right to speak, the audience’s right to listen, and students’ right to react with speech of their own; and to use their voices to foster a campus culture that celebrates and embraces robust intellectual discourse and eschews censorship.”
One of Natalie’s featured events, mentioned in the award notice, was the panel “Dissent from Minorities Within Minorities,” which included Flemming Rose, Faisal Saeed Al Mutar, Mustafa Akyol and Jacob Mchangama. You can watch the full panel here.
