Women like Tulay Goren must not be abandoned
In the Telegraph, Ceri Radford writes: “The Goren family are Muslims, but it isn’t just a Muslim problem–extreme and violent misogyny is a blight on other Asian communities in Britain, too, as the Sikh campaigner Jasvinder Sanghera has documented in her harrowing book, Shame. Tulay Goren was killed in 1999; a year later, the Government set up a task force to combat forced marriages, and there has been a broader shift away from multicultural policies. As Sanghera has said, “It’ss a betrayal of these women to be PC about this. Look at the figures. Asian women in Britain are three times more likely to commit suicide than their white friends.”” Every woman in Britain deserves the same opportunities, and the same protection.”
