Woman fined for erratic driving caused by veil

Police in the city of Vaucluse (Southern France) have fined a woman driver for erratic driving caused by her niqab, a veil that leaves only the eyes exposed, just weeks after a similar incident sparked a major political row: “[The headscarf] was bothering the driver in her maneuvers, it was obvious she could not see a thing,” commanding officer Charles Bourillon said; police gave the driver a ticket for 22 euros ($31) for driving with a reduced field of vision.
