Dear AHA Foundation Supporter,
As this year draws to its end, the pace of work here at the AHA Foundation is as fast as ever.
Just in the past few weeks, after years of relentless and painstaking work, we transformed an important initiative into a breakthrough: a helpline is now available in the US to girls and women at risk of honor violence. Over the years, we have asked our supporters to help make this helpline a reality for girls at risk. So many of you have answered our call for action. We hope you’ll feel proud as you read in this month’s newsletter about the first ever text line for women and girls in crisis facing situations of honor violence, and what this resource means for countless girls across the nation.
Are you aware of the immense impact your support has made in the fight against honor violence? With Successes You Made Possible we give you a glimpse of just that.
Last week, I was honored to receive the 2015 Lantos Human Rights Prize and join the esteemed company of my fellow prize recipients. I am humbled to have my life’s passion and commitments recognized by the foundation that carries the name of Congressman Tom Lantos, a Holocaust survivor who spent his life fighting for the rights of the oppressed and voiceless.
I thank you for supporting me in this work. The AHA Foundation is a people-powered organization. And the Lantos Foundation’s prize is an important recognition of our efforts. Whether our donor is the Executive Chairman of Google, a father who deeply cares about women’s rights, or a college student organizing an on-campus fundraiser, it is the passion of each loyal supporter that enables us to continue to protect women and girls from honor violence.
Happy Holidays,
Ayaan Hirsi Ali
