In a new op-ed for the New York Times, Fraidy Reiss, forced marriage survivor and Executive Director of Unchained at Last, speaks out about America’s child marriage problem. Taking on the issue of parental consent laws, Reiss explains that, “one person’s ‘parental consent’ can be another’s ‘parental coercion,’ but state laws typically do not call for anyone to investigate whether a child is marrying willingly.”
