Arjit Nandi, an Assistant Professor at McGill University, writes about making the end of child marriage a priority, particularly with the formation of the upcoming UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Canada has committed $40 million to support organizations aimed at combatting the issue. However there are still many legal loopholes in countries where child marriage takes place that allow the practice to continue. Making an end to child marriage a priority in the SDGs would direct more attention to the issue.
