PM David Cameron has ordered ministers to expedite measures to enable local authorities, social workers, or police to prosecute individuals trying to take girls abroad to receive FGM. Cameron is concerned about an increase in the procedure during the summer holiday. The measures will ensure that anyone trying to take someone abroad to undergo FGM would have to surrender their passport and could receive up to five years in prison.
