Tens of millions of Pakistani children will struggle to lay their hands on the book written by Malala Yousafzai, after the organisation representing Pakistan’s private schools decided to ban it.

The book, written jointly by the teenage education campaigner who was shot last year by the Taliban, and a British journalist, Christina Lamb, was published last month to widespread international enthusiasm. The 16-year-old tells of her life in the Swat Valley – where her father ran a private school – when it was under Taliban rule, of writing an anonymous blog for the BBC, and of her campaign for girls’ education.

The All Pakistan Private Schools Federation said it believed the book was not entirely respectful of Islam.

In the United Kingdom, a Judge heard the case of a 14-year-old girl who was forced to marry a man ten years older than her in “harrowing” circumstances. The Judge said he would not be able to provide a “declaration of non-recognition” of the marriage.

Two teenage girls have been shot dead in an apparent “honor” killing in Pakistan after a video was circulated showing them dancing in the rain, the Sydney Morning Herald reports.

The girls, aged 15 and 16, are seen running around wearing traditional dress, covered in green and purple headscarves, outside their stone bungalow in the town of Chilas, in the far north of the country.
